Colombo (News 1st): Views regarding the foreign influence on the island were expressed on the political stage today (June 5). Leader of the National Freedom Front Wimal Weerawansa noted that the Prime Minister has created an insecure situation in the country to see the dawn of the day where US forces can enter this country as per an agreement reached with the United States. He added that 7000 acres have already been reserved in Trincomalee to construct a US base and the American forces will have to come from Diego Gracia. He noted if they want to spread their dominion in the Indian Ocean they will have to make a command post in Sri Lanka and if they are to do that they will have to sign these agreements before this prime minister goes home. Weerawansa went onto note that the SOFA agreement is not one that needs to be signed between two countries, simply written consent to the agreement will result in it being considered as an agreement between the two countries. Meanwhile, Leader of the National Congress A.L.M. Athaulla also speaking regarding the matter noted that they said that if a Ranil Wickremesinghe government ascends to power, that there will be no possible good for the Muslims. He said they tried to bring about different things through the explosion of these bombs. He stated that India and the US want the resources Sri Lanka has and they are eyeing the Trincomalee Port, which is more than 50,00 acres of land, and the ocean. He went onto add that they even want the Mannar port. Athaulla said the next deal will be with regard to lands between the Trincomalee and Colombo ports, their price and they will be under the control of America.
