National security requires constant attention: President

COLOMBO (News 1st): President Maithripala Sirisena states that it is important to continue to focus on the national security of the country.  The President further said that the support of all parties is required in order to strengthen security so that it is in par with that of other nations. He commented on the matter when the national security review council convened last evening (May 24). President Maithripala Sirisena had previously decided to call on a monthly meeting of the review council for national security in order to obtain proposals and ideas of all parties concerned. The initial meeting convened yesterday (May 24) with the participation of religious leaders, the prime minister, the opposition leader, speaker, heads of security, ministers, MPs and intellectuals.
