COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Governor of the Central Province PC Maithri Gunaratna made an inspection of the Galaha rural hospital yesterday(May 22). The governor also participated in a tree planting program during the inspection. Governor of Central Province noted that he is in a difficult situation when he is requested for necessary equipment for the hospital as he is not bestowed with finances or powers to carry out those actions. He added that the central government is authorised in these matters. He went on to note that to transfer and appoint employees they have to seek the assistance of the central government. According to him, despite the central government's claim that the provincial council is bestowed with powers to carry out certain duties, they are not. "Either central government should take the health sector under their purview or let the provincial council take over to continue duties without interruptions"  he concluded.
