Gammadda program on readiness for natural disasters

Colombo (News 1st): A public awareness program on saving lives and property from floods took place today (May 15). The program jointly organized by Gammadda and Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management was assisted by the Disaster Management Centre, Sri Lanka Police, Sri Lanka Army and several other state institutions. The event took place in the Bulathsinhala Divisional Secretariat area. The inaugural ceremony of the program was held at the Sri Vishuddharama Viharaya in Paragoda, Bulathsinhala and awareness programs were held in the Palinda Nuwara and Walallawitha divisional secretariats too. Practical exercises were also conducted in line with awareness programs. The program commenced last year and will continue across the island to create awareness on saving lives and property from floods.
