Malinga ensures 4th IPL victory for Mumbai Indians

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Last night Lasith Malinga's resilient performance in the 20th over paved the way for Mumbai Indians to emerge victorious in IPL for the 4th time. The 12th Indian Premier League finals were held in Hyderabad between Mumbai Indians and defending champions Chennai Super Kings. Mumbai Indians won the toss and decided to bat. Following the 20 overs, Mumbai Indians scored 149 with 2 wickets in hand. With a target of 150, CSK entered the ground and by the 19th over they had scored 141 with 5 wickets in hand. Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma called in Sri Lankan veteran bowler Lasith Malinga for the last over where Mumbai Indians had to clutch 9 runs out of 6 balls. Lasith Malinga did not disappoint his skipper when he secured victory for Mumbai Indians with 1 run. Although CSK managed to score 19 runs in their 18th over, Rohit Sharma had faith in Malinga as he possessed enormous experience in crucial situations as such in the past.
