President on the ethical use of technology

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Several projects built at a cost of Rs. 2500 million under the Pibidemu Polonnaruwa Development programme were vested with the public today, under the auspices of President Maithripala Sirisena. The opening of the 5G communication tower built in Polonnaruwa Dheepa Uyana and the opening of the communication tower along the Habarana-Polonnaruwa road took place today (May 12). Later the President also declared open the shopping complex constructed by the Central Cultural Fund in the Polonnaruwa town. Moreover, 110 schools in the district were provided with free internet facilities at an event held in the Polonnaruwa Chandhra Mandapaya, under the patronage of the President. Speaking at the event President Maithripala Sirisena said that technology should never be used as a weapon to destroy humans. He continued to say that it is the most powerful countries in the world that manufacture weapons for terrorism adding that if not for those countries that there would be no terrorism in the world. The President urged the people to use technology for a good cause and avoid using it for harmful practices.
