COLOMBO (News 1st): President Maithripala Sirisena speaking on the current situation of the country said that similar terrorist activities such as that of April 21st had occurred in many other European countries but that the people of those countries had never requested their leader to step down. He reiterated that he will not step down and leave because of these terror activities and vowed that he will find those responsible for the 21/04 attack and take legal action against them. The President further continued to say that two interim reports were submitted by the committee of supreme court judges appointed by him in order to identify those who neglected their responsibilities resulting in this tragedy. President Sirisena noted that the final report of the committee will be submitted next week and that legal action will be implemented against everyone accountable for this attack. He added that unfortunately there are certain political opportunists and hypocrites who prefer when bombs explode in the country. Regardless of such selfish motives, everyone else should work together during this time. The head of state made these remarks, while attending the final progress review meeting of the Ampara district Rata Wenuwen Ekata Sitimu or Let’s Stand Together for the Country programme.
