Hand over illegal explosives within 3 days

Colombo (News 1st): Police announced a three day period to inform and hand over all illegal explosive material to the nearest police station. Speaking to the media today police media spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara noted that they have given the opportunity to anyone who has in their possession any amount of explosive material with no valid permit, to hand it over to the nearest police station. He added that if any individual possesses any illegal explosives without a valid permit, they should first inform the OIC of their nearest police station. He said it can also be done through the relevant police committee officers. Once it is done steps will be taken to seize the explosives. He noted that the time period to hand over explosives began at 6 am today (May 11) and will be valid to 6 pm on the 14th (Tuesday). Police said the materials which are identified as explosives include, gun powder, gelegnite, dynamite, detonators and other explosive substances.
