Batticaloa Campus : Officials questioned on validity of documents

COLOMBO (News 1st): Chairman of the sub committee on Higher Education under the sectoral oversight committee on education and human resources development, MP Ashu Marasinghe noted that proposals have been received at the committee to maintain the Batticaloa Campus university as an affiliate of either the Kotelawela Defence University or the Ministry of Tourism. He stated that the matter was discussed in-depth at the committee discussion held yesterday (May 09). Several officials of institutes said to have provided the university with registration and other facilities were summoned before the committee yesterday (May 09). MP Marasinghe further said that officials of the Company Registrar, Board of Investment, State Banks and the Department of Land were also summoned to verify the documents and permits issued. The final report compiled on the matter is due to be presented to the parliament at the end of this month.
