American succumbs to her injuries following the Easter Sunday attack

COLOMBO (News 1st) – An American, an employee of the US Department of Commerce, injured in the April 21st attacks succumbed to her injuries. She died yesterday (May 08) while receiving treatment at a hospital in Singapore.

US ambassador to Sri Lanka, Alena Teptlitz, said that the officer, Chelsea Decaminada, was seriously injured in the bomb attack on the Shangri-la Hotel.

She was a graduate of Duke University and was working as an international project expert at the US Department of Commerce. It was said that Chelsea Decaminada was on official duty when she caught the blast at Shangri-la.

With her death, US Secretary of Commerce Wilber Ross said in a statement that all countries should ‘fight terrorism’.
