Colombo (News 1st): Speaking in parliament, President Maithripala Sirisena detailed the current situation in the country.
"I must clearly state that the meeting of the security council was not conducted by myself alone. The Prime Minister, ministers of the government, recently I invited the entire cabinet to the security council meeting. When the Defence Minister of the United Kingdom came to the country recently, what was the first thing that he said when he met me? He said, President please explain to the people of your country that this is not only an issue within Sri Lanka, it is an issue of the world. I would like to say that steps have already been taken to confiscate the balances in the bank accounts, their lands, houses and other assets. The people who assisted in the April 21st attacks were paid a sum of Rupees two million each by this terrorist organization. We have found Rupees 18 million that was paid to these suspects. There intelligence officials from about eight of Sri Lanka's allies who are in the country. They are not military personnel, they are intelligence officials. They are helping our security forces and our intelligence units. Something that I noticed when I met these people is the fact that they are more intimidated by this than we are. The fact that this man who was supposedly dead has resurfaced now has become a problem to these superpowers. These terrorists who are against the western ideologies, mainly fight against the holy cross. One of their sayings states that it is only on the day that they hoist their flag in the Vatican that they have won their battle. When speaking about these issues in the country, I have issued instructions to destroy all terrorists. I have informed all security forces that all of these terrorists need to be destroyed. So I would like to state that the people of this country need not fear. We have arrested 99% of them. I must clearly state that our intelligence forces will nab each and every one of them within the span of three days. I held discussions with the heads of intelligence today as well. We are doing everything that we can."
