Colombo (News 1st): Parliamentarian Vijitha Herath expressing his views at a media briefing convened by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna today (April 22) noted that as a party they condemn this attack. He noted that the intelligence units received information in this regard, but decisions were not made at the right time.

Herath noted that it was clear in Prime Minister’s speech yesterday that such information was received and it shows that the political leadership had not made rigid decisions. He went onto note that the government is responsible for the security of the people and it is clear that they have not intervened to make decisions about the security of the people.

He added that the people should be informed about who’s behind this. He noted that they were not told about this, but the information has reached a certain level of authority and has stopped from there. The MP noted that it does not justify anything.

He noted that political decisions should expedite the investigations based on the information they received and the law should be enacted at least now. He requested them not to use this situation to fulfil their petty political agendas.
