Sri Lankan fishermen caught by Maldives to return in time for New Year

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development states twenty-0ne Sri Lankan fishermen arrested in Maldives are due to return to the island tonight(April 11). State Minister Dilip Wedaarachchi added that it was an effort to bring Sri Lankan fishermen arrested overseas back to the island in time for the festive season. These fishermen were caught by the Maldives coastal guard when they were returning from Arabian seas concluding their fishing activities on February 28th. Two multi-day vessels were seized along with them.
