Iranian drug bust: Suspects further remanded till 23rd

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The court ordered today(April 11), to further remand the nine Iranians who are currently under arrest for drug trafficking until the 23rd of this month. The Iranians were arrested while they were transporting heroin to Sri Lanka by boat. The Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne ordered the registrar to take the necessary steps to seek the aid of an Iranian language translator when the case is taken up again on the 23rd of this month. The Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne also ordered to further remand the eight suspects until the 23rd of this month, who were arrested while transporting heroin in the seas around Beruwala. The Fort Magistrate also ordered the officials of the Police Narcotics Bureau who were present at the hearing, to expedite the process of obtaining the government analyst's report regarding the seized heroin stock and the phone history. Additionally, the Police Narcotics Bureau was ordered to carry out investigations on the suspects immediately and to provide a report to courts as soon as possible.
