Colombo (News 1st): The case filed against an article published on the Thamil Thandi newspaper regarding an LTTE Brigadier named Paalraj was postponed today (April 5). The case filed at the Jaffna Magistrates court by the Criminal Investigations Department was taken up for hearing before Jaffna Magistrate Anthony Sami Peter Paul. A team of attorneys led by Nadarajan Kandeeban represented the defendants in court today. Counsel representing the CID was also present in court today. The author of the article in question also appeared in court. The CID requested the defendants to reveal the sources on which the article was based on. Attorney at Law Nadarajan Kandeeban questioned in court today as to what the exact offence under the Prevention of Terrorism Act was committed by the publication of the article by the Thamil Thandi Newspaper. He added that as per the principles on the freedom of media the defendants cannot reveal their sources to a third party.
