Suspect arrested for possession of counterfeit notes

Colombo (News 1st) - A suspect was arrested in Tangalle for the possession of counterfeit notes. Yesterday, the officials of the Anti Crime unit in Tangalle checked an individual who behaved in a suspicious manner. During the operation, the police discovered Rs 75,000 worth of counterfeit notes. Our correspondent stated that 500 Rs 500 notes and 10 Rs 5000 notes were seized. The suspect is a resident of Urugamuwa, Dickwella, The preliminary investigations revealed the suspect was also involved in two other thefts that occurred in the Walasmulla police division. The suspect is due to be produced before the Tangalle Magistrate court today.
