Parents protest Grade 1 students enrollment in Walasmulla

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A group of parents staged a protest opposite the Weeraketiya Rajapakse Primary School over the refusal to enroll Grade 1 students who were on the waiting list into the school. The protest obstructed Tangalle- Veeraketiya main road. Police officers who arrived at the scene took steps to hold discussions with the protestors. Two protestors were later given the opportunity to engage in a discussion with the officials of the Walasmulla Zonal Education Office. Our correspondent noted that the group continued to stage their protest without obstructing the main road following the two protestors departure to the Zonal Education Office.
