COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Presidential Commission of Inquiry probing fraud and corruption over the past four years has advised the Ministry of Agriculture to hand over documents regarding the importation of dairy heifers. The commission stated that the documents are required to conduct further investigations regarding the matter.
Meanwhile, a member of the organization to protect dairy heifers, Amal Sooriyage revealed before the commission during his testimony that personnel attached to the Ministry of Economic Affairs had entered his farm in Maskeliya forcefully and had behaved in a manner which threatened his security.
The Commission grew concerned about this revelation and advised the commission’s police unit to commence an investigation. It also ordered the Maskeliya OIC to submit a report regarding the matter.
