Increase in wildfires reported from Badulla and Nuwara Eliya

Colombo (News 1st): The Disaster Management Center notes that reports of wildfires in Badulla and Nuwara Eliya districts have increased. Assistant Director of the Badulla District Disaster Management Unit, E.M.L. Udayakumara stated that they have received information on different groups who set fire to forests. He noted that the law will be implemented very strictly on these individuals. Meanwhile, Assistant Director of the Nuwara Eliya District Disaster Management Unit Nimal Bandara noted that wildfires reported in the district have also been increased. He noted that this is due to the prevailing dry weather.
