Catastrophe at Ellakanda reserve averted

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Army and Police have together successfully doused a fire which broke out in the Allakanda Reserve in Welipanna, Uragoda.
Police noted the blaze spread after a garbage dump, in close proximity to the reserve, was set on fire.
The individual that set the garbage on fire had been arrested.
The police added that Army personnel from Yatadola and Pelawatta camps along with STF managed to extinguish the fire.
