Colombo (News 1st): TNA MP Mavai Senathirajah said in Parliament today (March 26) that they are of the stance that investigations need to be carried out for war crimes. He noted that they had negotiations with President Mahinda Rajapaksa in 2011 and 2012 regarding finding solutions on missing persons. He went onto note that 7 to 8 documents on prisoners of war, prisoners who were released were shown. He added that Basil Rajapaksa said that Sumanthiran and Suresh Premachandran could meet the prisoners at camps in Vavuniya but the army did not give them that opportunity. At that point, MP Senathirajah said the Army had the list of all the fighters who were handed over to the Army or those who surrendered. He asked, " What happened to them?" The MP noted that the families of missing persons are waiting for answers. MP Senathirajah noted that if the resolutions of the UNHRC are not fulfilled, they (TNA) have no other option but to ask the international community to take action against the country similar to how they acted and responded when Mahinda Rajapaksa became the Prime Minister.
