Weather Advisory: Several areas in the country to experience heavy rain and lightning

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Meteorology Department has issued a weather advisory, notifying that several areas of the country will experience showers or thundershowers. The Department predicts that the following areas will be affected after 2.00 pm today (March 22);

• Western Province
• Sabaragamuwa Province
• Central Province
• Western Province
• Southern Province
• Uva District
• Kurunegala District
• Galle District
• Matara District

According to the MET Department, fairly heavy falls above 75 mm can be expected at some places in Sabaragamuwa province and in Galle and Matara districts. Meanwhile, people living in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle, Matara districts will have to be aware of severe lightning and take necessary precautions. Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces during morning hours.
