Five arrested for illegal gem mining in Bogowantalawa

Colombo (News 1st): Five people have been arrested in Theresia Estate, Bogawantalawa for illegal gem mining in the Keselgamuwa Oya. Police noted that the suspects aged 27, 29, 36, 37 and 45 are residents of Bogawantalawa, Opanayaka, Ratnapura, and Dambulla. The police had also seized the equipment used for gem mining. The suspects are due to be produced before the Hatton Magistrate.
