Police crackdown on 2646 suspects in special raid last night

COLOMBO (News 1st) - 2646 suspects have been arrested in a special operation carried out by the police. Police Media Spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara said that the operation was carried out from 9.00 pm last night (March 15) until 6.00 am this morning (March 16) as per orders of the IGP. Those arrested included:

• 1790 suspects connected to trafficking heroin and other drugs
• 623 persons on whom warrants were issued
• 101 suspects connected to various other crimes
• 125 individuals connected to various corruption activities
• 6 for possessing firearms without a valid license
