Colombo (News 1st): While MP Sidney Jayarathne was expressing his views in parliament yesterday (March 14), MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage's intervention resulted in a heated argument between them.
Speaking in Parliament yesterday MP Sidney Jayarathne questioned about the innocent police officer who died. He noted that this matter is swept under the carpet with the support of the President which can be considered as a shameless act.
He questioned as to what will happen to the family of the deceased police officer and his children. MP Jayaratne noted that innocent people have been killed due to the negligence of Mahindananda Aluthgamage's children. He went onto note that innocent people have been killed and that Aluthgamage speaks like a saint.
The parliamentarian noted that two days ago MP Aluthgamage remained silent, like a dead snake but today, he bounced back to his previous state.
Responding to this MP Aluthgamage noted that Jayaratne can say whatever he pleases as he (M. Aluthgamage) has no issue with it. He noted that a case has been filed and there is no issue with that matter.
MP Aluthgamage noted that there has been no issue relating to a club or anything, however, Sidney Jayrathne must remember that he did not go with a woman and stay on a tree.
MP Jayaratne questioned Aluthgamage of how many women he left behind as he is now married to another. He questioned as to why he paid millions to women. Jayaratne noted that he has not done such a thing and that the 50 million that was paid was money stolen by the Rajapaksa government.
What we highlighted through our editorial yesterday (March 14) is further proven through incidents of this nature.
Are these the so-called "public representatives" that we have elected to Parliament on behalf of the future and country?
Think, before you vote!
