3rd reading of budget to begin today

Colombo (News 1st) - The committee stage debate or the 3rd reading of the budget begins today. Debates on a number of expenditure overheads, including that of the President, Prime Minister, and several independent commissions will be held today. The committee stage debates will continue till April 5th, and the final vote on the budget will be held on the day. The second reading of the 2019 Budget was passed in Parliament last evening. 119 votes were cast in favor of the budget, while 76 were cast against it. 30 parliamentarians abstained from voting.
