COLOMBO (News 1st) - More than 150kg of heroin was discovered from a house in Rawatawatte, Moratuwa in an operation carried out by the Police Special Task Force.
Police Media Spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara said the heroin has a street value of around Rs. 1800 million. Two men were arrested over the incident. The STF also found 3000 bullets used for T56 assault rifles and a pistol at the premises.
Information on this stock of heroin was revealed on the interrogation of Kelum Indika alias 'Kevuma' who was arrested over the Rs. 5000 million diamond heist. Police said that he had lived in this house sometime back. The suspect was produced before the Mahara Courts and was further remanded until March 22nd.
Police said that information has also surfaced that this house was used as a safe-house by notorious underworld leader Makandure Madush.
