COLOMBO (News 1st) - Two students were injured in a motor accident that took place this morning(March 07) in Horana. The students were travelling on the footboard of a school bus and had collided onto a lamp post. The incident took place at Mahena, Horana along the Moranthuduwa - Horana road. The students are currently receiving treatment at the Horana base hospital. The residents claim that the lamp post is located extremely close to the road making it more prone to road accidents. They said that despite their constant complaints to the authorities on the dangerously located lamp post no action was taken. Meanwhile, two individuals were injured after a cab collided with a tipper truck that also crashed into a three-wheeler in Pallebedda. The tipper truck had been travelling from Embilipitiya towards Colombo and the cab had been travelling in the opposite direction. The driver of the cab and another person who sustained severe injuries were admitted to the Pallebedda District Hospital and later transferred to the District General Hospital of Embilipitiya. The police stated that the cause of the accident was that the cab driver was not able to manoeuvre the vehicle at high speed. The driver of the cab is due to be produced before the Embilipitiya Magistrates' Court after receiving medical treatment.
