Hydro-power reservoir water levels drop

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The water levels at the major reservoirs used to generate hydro-power have fallen rapidly owing to the dry weather and lack of rain. Media spokesman of the Ministry of Power and Energy, Sulakshana Jayawardana said the water levels at the Castlereigh, Mousakelle, Kotmale, Victoria, Randenigala, and Samanalawewa dams have dropped to 41.8% of capacity. Thus he requested the general public to use electricity in a responsible manner.
