COLOMBO (News 1st) - Veteran News 1st journalist Sripal Wanniarrachchi was bestowed with the Service Excellence award at the inaugural Abdul Kalam award ceremony organised by Vishwam Campus and Achiever’s Foundation held at the Kadirgamar Centre recently. Wanniarachchi has over 24 years of experience in journalism of which he has served 22 years at News 1st. He has earned the admiration of his colleagues and industry peers for his steadfast commitment to quality journalism. Over his career spanning two decades, he has served as a radio presenter, news editor, TV presenter, panel expert, and now hosts his own show, Maayima on TV 1. As a firebrand commentator for just politics, he has a loyal following that spans all walks of life across the island. Wanniarachchi has served as parliamentary correspondent for over 16 years and was appointed the president of Sri Lanka Parliament Journalist’s Electronic and New Media Society. For his yeoman service and contribution to journalism, Wanniarachchi has been conferred with the prestigious titles of Keerthi Sri Deshabandu Janamadya shuri" and "Keerthi Sri Panditha."
