Self immolation at Ruhunu Kataragama Maha Devalaya

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A person set himself on fire at the premises of the Ruhunu Kataragama Maha Devalaya this morning (March 03). The police said that the person was admitted to the hospital with burn injuries. A part of a small monastery that was built close to the Maha Devalaya was also partially destroyed due to the fire. The fire was contained by the joint efforts of the police, the fire brigade and the area residents.
