COLOMBO (News 1st) – A sum of Rs. 6.3 million has been robbed from a safe at the administrative building of the Anuradhapura teaching hospital when a fire broke out at the premises. Director of the hospital Dr. Dulan Samaraweera noted that a certain individual had broken into the safe, robbed the money and set fire to several documents in the safe.
Dr. Samaraweera said the incident was reported at around 4.00 am this morning (March 03).
An in-depth investigation has commenced on the incident by the Criminal Investigations Unit of the Anuradhapura police. However, no suspects have been arrested over the incident.
