Colombo (News 1st): Yesterday (March 1), News 1st reported that the Presidential Commission that was appointed to investigate into the fraud and corruption that took place at state institutions, has decided to investigate into a complaint lodged against Minister Lakshman Kiriella.
The complaint notes Minister Kiriella has given 50, 20 and 10 acres of land owned by the Janatha Estates Development Board in Hanthana to his wife, daughter, and relatives respectively, in violation of the government regulations.
However today (March 2), News 1st received a letter from Minister Lakshman Kiriella responding to our news item broadcast yesterday. The news item carried yesterday that the Presidential commission decided to investigate into the complaint lodged.
Therefore, if there is a requirement for any clarification, the minister should address the letter to the Presidential Commission instead of News 1st.
