PCoI for state institutions to start with investigating complaint against Minister Lakshman Kiriella

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Presidential Commission to inquire into alleged irregularities at state institutions during the past four years has decided to investigate on a complaint against Minister Lakshman Kiriella. The commission stated that the file containing information on the complaint was forwarded to the police in order to initiate the preliminary tasks. The complaint was lodged by the Planters Association of Ceylon. The complaint states that the Minister had unlawfully provided his wife, daughter, and relatives with land areas of 50,20 and 10 acres in Hantana belonging to the Janatha Estate Development Board. Meanwhile, the commission stated that another complaint on alleged financial misappropriation worth billions of rupees that occurred when cancer medication was bought by the State Pharmaceutical Corporation. This complaint was lodged by the Sri Lanka Chamber of Small and Medium Industries. The commission has selected 07 complaints for investigation. Two hundred and ninety-five (295) complaints have been lodged with the commission. Complaints will be accepted at the commission till March 7th.
