Sri Lankan smugglers in Dubai linked to Kollupitiya heroin haul

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Information has come to light that 5 Sri Lankan drug peddlers, who fled to Dubai, are linked to the largest haul of heroin in the country. On February 24th, the Police were able to take into custody over 290kg of heroin and two suspects from the Kollupitiya area. Interrogation of the two arrested suspects had revealed that drug peddlers Michael Morin and Kosgoda Sujee and 3 others are linked to the drug haul. Police media spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara noted that the information was presented before court and warrants were issued for the arrest of the 5 suspects in Dubai. SP Gunasekara noted that they will be taking steps to issue a blue notice for the arrest of the suspects through Interpol in Dubai. Meanwhile, the two suspects who were arrested with the drugs have been remanded till the 15th of this month.
