COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Joint Committee of the All Island Executive Officers’ Services said that an island-wide one day strike will be launched today (February 27). The strike is against the non-removal of wage anomalies. The secretary to the committee H. L. Udayasiri noted that over 15,000 members of 15 trade unions will be joining the strike.
The strike will be launched as a result of discussions that failed with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday (February 26). A senior officer at the Ministry of Public Administration and Management stated that a final decision on the matter has not yet been reached.
