Ruwan Wijewardene assumes duty as the Non-Cabinet Minister of Mass Media

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Ruwan Wijewardene today (February 25) assumed duties as the Non-Cabinet Minister of Mass Media. He assumed duties at the Ministry of Mass Media following religious observances. Several dignitaries including Minister Ravi Karunanayake, Ajith P. Perera and the Mayor of Colombo Rosy Senanayake were present at the event. Ruwan Wijewardene said that he would strive hard to protect the freedom of media. He noted that media should be allowed to criticize the government. He also stressed that he was confident that he could serve well as the minister of media.
