Governor Azath Salley thanks the president for his initiative

Colombo (News 1st): Governor of the Western Province Azath Salley speaking regarding the initiative implemented to eradicate the drug menace in the country noted that the countrywide crackdown on drugs has been a success due to the actions of the President. Governor Salley noted that the student population and the parents should thank the President for implementing this initiative. He pointed out that there are also those who robbed the banks and destroyed the SriLankan Airlines. He believes that they will be able to move forward as a country if these perpetrators are also brought before justice. Convener of the Parapuraka Balaya Organization Chamara Nakandala speaking to News1st noted that they see that the bond scam has also resurfaced with the drug issue in the country. He said they cannot let this be swept under the carpet. He pointed out that it is visible how the civil organizations are remaining silent. Nakandala requested the President and the other relevant authorities to not let the bond scam be swept under the carpet because of the drugs issue. He also reminded the government to not let the political deals that might come up during this situation to be covered up. He noted that the culprits should definitely be punished.
