COLOMBO (News 1st) – Several members of the United National Party commented on the Presidential candidate for the forthcoming elections.
The Minister of Public Enterprise, Kandyan Heritage and Kandy Development, Lakshman Kiriella noted that at the Presidential election held at the end of this year that the people will get the opportunity to appoint a new leader. He continued to say that unlike in 2010 and 2015 when they acted like the “Sirisangabo” that this time a candidate from the UNP will be definitely put forward.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka said that a new President should be elected before January 8, 2020. However, in contradictory to the statement made by Minister Kiriella, he claimed that a wide and comprehensive alliance called the National Democratic Alliance will be established to face the elections through which a strong candidate will be put out as the presidential candidate.
