Committee to look into use of drugs by MPs to submit report to PM today

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Leader of the House Minister Lakshman Kiriella said that the report compiled by the committee appointed to look into parliamentarians who allegedly use narcotic substances will be handed over to the Prime Minister this afternoon(February 22). Its been a while since state Minister Ranjan Ramanayake alleged that there are ministers in the cabinet who use narcotic substances. A committee was appointed recently to be led by Lakshman Kiriella to look into the matter, and the committee convened at the Parliamentary complex today(February 22). State Minister Eran Wickramaratne, Nissanka Nanayakkara and Prof. Ashu Marasinghe are the other members of the committee. State Minister Ranjan Ramanayake arrived at the committee today(February 22) around 9.30 a.m to provide a statement. Lakshman Kiriella noted that the same report with names of the alleged drug using MPs which was handed over to CID is to be handed over to the Prime Minister as well.
