"Practise what you preach" - President Sirisena

COLOMBO (News 1st) - President Maithripala Sirisena today flayed human rights promoters for preaching but not practicing. The President was highly critical of nations who criticise Sri Lanka but whose own human rights record is far from perfect. The President added that when hardened criminals were transferred to the high-security Agunukolapalessa prison, the Human Rights Commission sent a letter with a litany of questions and concerns. The President asked if the human rights of 21 million Sri Lankans or those of hardened criminals were more important.
