COLOMBO (News 1st) - Sri Lanka's President Maithripala Sirisena insisted that although even a Grade 5 student knows about the Constitution, Executive and the Judiciary, it appeared that the Constitutional Council was the body controlling all three. President Sirisena complained that although he was supposed to receive regular reports, the one he had most recently received did not properly explain the rationale behind the selection and rejection of appointments. The President claimed that that the Constitutional Council had thus far not been able to keep up with the peoples'expectation when it came to democracy and good governance. President Sirisena was elected on a ticket of Yahapalanaya or good governance promises in 2015.
