Man arrested with Rs. 400,000 counterfeit money

COLOMBO (News1st) - A 40-year-old suspect has been arrested from Peragashandiya, Biyagama for the possession of counterfeit notes valued at over Rs. 400,000.00 The Police said that 38 of Rs. 5,000 notes, 300 of Rs. 1000 notes and 165 of Rs. 500 notes were discovered in his possession. The suspect has been identified as a resident of Malwana. The arrest was made based on a tip-off received at the Organized Crime and Corruption Prevention division. He is due to be produced before the Mahara Magistrates Court today (February 17).
