President pledges Rs 5mn at launch of Heart to Heart Trust Fund website

Colombo (News 1st): The website of the Heart to Heart Trust Fund was launched today (Feb 16) under the auspices of President Maithripala Sirisena. The event was held at the auditorium of the Nursing school at Sri Jayawardenapura hospital. The website provides information to the general public on the Heart to Heart Trust Fund and will accommodate requests for donations from heart patients through the website. Donations to the Heart to Heart Trust Fund were made by the patronage of the President. Speaking at the event President Maithripala Sirisena said that its best to obtain information of the patients especially regarding the economic background. Then patients could be evalauted and selected on the information for furher treatment through the fund. He added that there are people in this society who will take anything when it is free even though they can afford to pay for the treatment. The Head of State noted that the government will give its fullest support and patronage for this important project. He added that by Monday or Tuesday that he will give Rs. 2.5 million from the President's Fund and another Rs 2.5 million from the Polonaruwa Buddhist Society.
