COLOMBO (News 1st) -Attorney-at-Law Shabdika Wellappili, appearing on behalf of Amal Perera and Nadimal Perara who are in remand custody in Dubai, noted that bail applications will be presented as soon as possible.
Speaking to News 1st, Attorney-at-Law Shabdika Wellappili said that Amal Perera, and his son Nadeemal Perera have been remanded until the 28th of this month.
Investigations have commenced under the laws pertaining to narcotics in Dubai in relation to Amal Perera and Nadeemal Perera.
The lawyer added that the final report confirming whether or not Amal Perera and Nadeemal Perera were under the influence of narcotics has not been released as yet.
Sources from Dubai state that the other 29 suspects who were arrested along with Makandure Madush have also been placed under remand custody.
The Foreign Ministry stated that they are monitoring the situation through the Consul General’s Office in Dubai as well as through the Ambassador’s Office in Abu Dhabi.
The suspects were arrested in Dubai on the 4th of this month at a party in a reputed hotel along with cocaine.
