Colombo (News 1st): Nimal Lewke, retired commanding officer of the Police Special Task Force threw some light on how KP (Kumaran Padmanadan) was arrested. He also commented on the defeat of the LTTE. Nimal Lewke noted that the LTTE was strengthened by the international support. However, towards the end of the war, the government, it's leaders and the officials of the relevant divisions received a lot more international co-operation. This was an advantage that translated into strength. Speaking on KP's arrest he said that he was apprehended in Malaysia. Sri Lanka and Malaysia had an extradition treaty and they were able to bring KP to Sri Lanka. Lewke noted that the main reason for the victory was the appointment of the right officers to their rightful positions. Similarly, if such a group of individuals are appointed to their rightful positions on a political platform, the results would inevitably be positive.
