Cabinet approval granted for pilot project to provide tabs to school children

Colombo (News 1st): A meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers was chaired by President Maithripala Sirisena today (Feb 12). The meeting was held at the Presidential Secretariat.

Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said that they have decided to discuss the issue of holding elections with the Speaker of the parliament. They will then take a final decision.

When questioned regarding the important decisions taken at the cabinet today, Minister Kariyawasam noted that approval was granted to continue the program to provide tabs to school students. He added that the approval was granted for a pilot project to be conducted at one A.B. school. The program will be implemented in 3 months. He noted that the President requested for a report to be presented at the next cabinet meeting.

Minister Gamini Jayawickrama Perera noted that there was a cabinet paper of the Ceylon Electricity Board presented by Minister Ravi Karunanayake to carry out the activities of he CEB without funding from the treasury.

When questioned if Minister Sajith Premadasa will be working to form a national government in the future he said that what he can say for sure is that the President, the Prime Minister and all of them are working together, in uniosion and trying to achieve the goals of our country.
