Tensions flare in Parliament over Speaker's statement

Colombo (News1st) - Parliamentary sessions were temporarily adjourned following a tense situation in the chamber. According to our Parliamentary Correspondent, Amarasri Bandara following the tense situation an urgent party leaders meeting had been called for. He added, the tense situation arose when the Speaker was delivering a response to the statement made by the President in Parliament yesterday on the conduct of the Constitutional Assembly. However, when the speaker was making the statement Opposition MPs had claimed the statement made by the President cannot be criticized and they cannot accept the statement made by the Speaker.
