Swine flu claims 14 lives in Indian farm state

Reuters-At least 14 people have died due to swine flu in India's northern Punjab state, said doctors on Wednesday (February 06). Civil Surgeon, Ludhiana, Parvinder Pal Singh, said out of 69, 36 cases were found to be confirmed cases of swine flu. Six deaths were reported in Ludhiana, added Singh. An alert has been issued by the health department to hospitals to establish special swine flu corners for the patients in the hospitals. Posters have been also put up to educate people about the disease and create awareness among them. The symptoms of swine flu caused by H1N1 virus include sore throat, cough, cold and fever, headache, nausea, and vomiting. People have been advised to avoid going to crowded places and take proper hygiene measures to ensure safety.
