COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Cost of Living Committee is to impose a control price on Rice.

Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture K. D. S. Ruwanchandra noted that the cost of living committee meeting held yesterday (February 05) had discussed the prevailing prices of rice at length.

He further noted that the committee members had proposed to impose a control price on Rice due to the prevailing guaranteed price on Paddy. The decision on the control price imposed on rice is due to be made next week.

The secretary added that a final decision on increasing the prices of gas and milk powder, based on requests made, will also be made at the committee meeting next week.
